Grow your IT talent pool
The Microsoft Traineeship Program supports budding IT professionals to take the first steps in their career. With 90% of participants offered employment after completing the course, it’s the perfect cost-effective way for your business to tap a pipeline of emerging talent.

How does it work?
As a registered Group Training Organisation (GTO), MEGT directly employs the trainee and places them with a host employer (your business).
Candidates are thoroughly screened, suitable and job-ready for you to provide on-the-job training and supervision as they work towards a nationally accredited qualification, adding value to your business.
MEGT trainees achieve significantly higher completion rates than the national average, which reduces staff turnover and costly mis-hires.
The details
Trainees spend four days per week in the host employers’ workplace and one day studying for a Certificate IV in Cyber Security, delivered by TAFE, along with the latest Microsoft and ITS certifications from Prodigy Learning.
Access to passionate talent
Host employers can access trainees who have been screened to ensure the best fit for their business.
Cost efficiencies
This low-risk solution is focused on trainees achieving their qualifications and reducing staff turnover.
Fresh perspectives
Diversifying your workforce helps generate new ways of thinking within your workforce framework.
Getting the right fit
You can change trainees if they’re not exactly the right fit, as MEGT is their legal employer.
More time for you
MEGT screens, sources, onboards and mentors all trainees meaning you can focus on growing your business.

What MEGT does
As the trainee’s legal employer, MEGT is responsible for:
- End-to-end recruitment
- Payroll
- Entitlements
- Compliance
- Management of sign-up and progression
- Employee relations
- Mentoring and employee development
MEGT will source high-quality, suitable and passionate trainee candidates.
Provide a shortlist of pre-screened candidates for host employers to interview, keeping in mind the right fit for the business. Trainees are selected for both attitude and aptitude, with additional and targeted efforts made to source female trainees, as well as trainees from First Nations and culturally diverse backgrounds.
All trainees complete a thorough pre-employment induction with MEGT before entering the program. Trainees will also be signed to a Training Contract and enrolled with TAFE to undertake a Certificate IV Information Technology.
When the trainee completes their Certificate IV in Information Technology, host employers may choose to employ them permanently with no fees.
What host employers provide
- On-the-job training
- Appropriately qualified supervision
- A safe work environment
Host employers are also required to release their trainee during working hours to attend formal training and assessment, participate and contribute to trainee assessments, and notify MEGT of any issues with the performance or attendance of the trainee.
